Blog #7. Methods of Food

The farmers, intellectuals, and entrepreneurs across the country who are leading the movement to reinvent American food production are highlighted in Fresh. They are transforming farm operations, land upkeep, and food distribution with a heavy focus on sustainability. Their achievement shows that, if people choose to support it, an approach built on sustainable methods may be successful and serve as a model for our food system.

After providing a brief overview of the issues and fallout from industrialized food production, Fresh focuses mostly on the people developing creative solutions to natural, health, and financial challenges that arise at every stage of the food chain.

World-renowned sustainable farmer and businessman Joel Salatin observed nature and used that knowledge to create a pasture rotation method for his livestock that not only heals the soil but also enhances his operations' profitability many times over that of his neighbors who practice conventional farming.

Former professional basketball player, who happens to be the recipient of MacArthur's 2008 Genius Award and is a persistent farmer.. Will Allen is currently regarded as one of the movement's most important figures. He provides knowledge on the importance of wholesome food and how to cultivate it to inner-city residents.

With the growth of Walmart and other large chains, David Ball witnessed the demise of his family-run supermarket and the previously prosperous local farming community. He therefore completely redesigned his company and teamed up with nearby farmers to offer reasonably priced, locally sourced food. His strategy has revived the local economy as a whole.

This seventy two minuet film, gives us an insight into local farmers who have pride in their work while they also try to influence others to eat locally and healthier. The producers set the tone and it is easy relatable to others and has laid back approach. Their goal is to persuade others to eat healthier and show the side of farming that holds traditions and values.
